Our story
Less cooking, more living.
I still remember the smell of my nani's kitchen—tadka crackling, roti on the tawa, and the question that meant everything: खाना खाया?
That's why we built Şef. Not because we had a business plan, but because we missed that feeling. The one where someone has cooked for you with care. Where every meal feels like it came from a real kitchen, not a factory. We wanted to bring asli khana from asli log back to your table—and we're doing it, one home cook at a time. Home-style taste. Indian love.

From regional dishes to your table
I grew up in a house where atithi devo bhava wasn't a poster on the wall—it was how we lived. When someone came home, the first question was always about food. Dal-roti, biryani, sambar, paratha—dishes from every corner of India that taste like home because they are home. Every Şef who cooks these brings that same spirit to your plate. Less cooking, more living.
Why we're called Şef
Why "Şef"? Because in every household, there's one person—the one who feeds the family. The one who turns simple ingredients into something that nourishes and connects. In my home, it was my nani. In yours, it might be mummy, didi, maai, dai—or the friend who always shows up with a tiffin. We chose this name for them. Şef is for the ones who cook with love.
Who are our Şefs?
Meet the people behind your meals. Our Şefs are home cooks from your city—people who grew up in kitchens like yours. Every one is vetted, trained on food safety, and chosen because they cook the way we wish everyone could: with family recipes, regional flavours, and the same care they'd give their own parivaar. From Punjabi parathas to South Indian sambar, Bengali comfort to Gujarati thalis—each Şef has a story. And a menu that's uniquely theirs.
We built this for two reasons: so more families could sit down to real ghar ka khaana, and so the people who make it could earn the respect—and livelihood—they deserve. That's the story we're still writing.
A platform for home cooks
I'll never forget the first Şef who joined us—a neighbour known for her home-style dal and roti. She'd been cooking for her building for years. No app, no delivery partner. Just word of mouth and a tiffin. We built Şef for people like her. Every talented home cook deserves a way to turn their skill into a livelihood. We give them the platform, the delivery support, and the visibility. They focus on what they do best: cooking.
Today, home cooks across our cities are cooking and delivering to their neighbourhoods. Every order supports real food and the people behind it. When the kitchen is in someone's home and the hand behind it cares, food does more than fill you up—it connects us. That's the story we're living every day.
Why we started Şef
I grew up in a home where the kitchen was the heart of the house. Where food was how you showed love. Where "खाना खाया?" was the most important question of the day. In the rush of city life, that started to feel rare. So we built Şef to bring it back. Our goal is simple: real home-style food from real home cooks—so more families can sit down to a meal that actually feels like ghar. That's the table we want to help fill. And we're just getting started.
